How did you get your start in real estate?

A local developer hired me as a Director of Leasing for their portfolio. After working there for 7 years, I partnered with Eric Tudor to form Tudor Collins LLC and we have been building our own organization for the past 11 years.

What recent project or transaction are you most proud of?

I have been the exclusive listing broker for Sonwil Distribution for the past 10 years, and over the past few months, I have coordinated the expansion of two major tenants within the same business park resulting in the relocation of seven other tenants. Getting leases, floor plans, budgets and moving schedules to coordinate has been the biggest challenge of my career, but seeing it all fall into place is very rewarding.

What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?

I have received some of the most helpful advice from my mentor over the past 8 years. She is not even in the same industry, but this helps provide an outside, impartial objective. As a woman business owner herself she has experience and insight regarding what to expect and how to overcome common obstacles associated with growing a business. I also enjoy being a mentor. Not only is it rewarding to be able to help someone else, I am always learning from them as well.

What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you?

I am extremely conscious of time management. I extensively use Outlook for task reminders and meeting notices. All appointments and projects that require blocks of time, both business and personal, are on that calendar and linked to my phone where reminders and alarms alert me to keep me on task. I try to spend an hour first thing in the morning and an hour at the end of the day to clean up emails and also whenever possible return phone calls while driving to appointments (using Bluetooth of course) saving time for other tasks in the office.
